So, now that our bathroom has been so beautifully redone by Perry I find myself dreaming of both kitchen and laundry room makeovers...not to mention the art studio/guest room is continually morphing as each day passes.
(note to self, post before and after pics of the bathroom!! .....another day)
Let's focus on just the laundry room for now, shall we?
Our laundry room is located in our storage/work space type of basement, existing as an off-shoot of the entire basement in it's own designated nook.
It is a separate room, really, but with a coziness to it.
K has talked about adding a very small bathroom down there, possibly with a stall shower, but as I do not foresee that happening in the near future, I will personally embark on spiffying up the space from a purely design standpoint.
Right now old linoleum is hanging on for dear life, torn up in some spots, stuck-down in others.
The cement block walls need a GOOD cleaning and repainting.
There is an effective yet unattractive long counter set up on along one side if the room. I am glad to have it, but it is oddly put together, and just plain old. I like old, but this is not cool-old, it is old-old. I will replace or redo this in some way (?!)
And there is no charm about the room currently...
Enter the (as I like to call it) "dream and design" phase:
The rest of the basement has been 50% repainted, so we will continue that color scheme into the laundry room: sage floor paint, creamy-light yellow wall paint.
We just had a new washer and dryer set delivered the other day. Not those really cool new colorful ones with the round windows though...have you priced those babies out? shewooooo!!!! We opted for a nice, affordable, simple Kenmore set that will do the job! ;) I LOVE that the dryer door opens down, instead of out to the side.
OK, so now the nitty gritty of the dream and design phase takes shape:
This spring, when I hope most of the makeover will be completed, I want to photograph some of my old linen and blankets on the clothes-line outside in the sunshine, then print and frame the photographaph in an awesome vintage type frame for hanging above the counter.
I would like to lay a decorative indoor/outdoor type rug down on the far half of the floor.
Adding a generous-sink would be nice. Perhaps the room could double as a plant potting area?
Cozy the space up with baskets, and /or other decor pieces.
Create attractive storage solutions for ironing essentials, and more...
And the dreaming continues.
Here are some pictures I have seen on the internet which cause my little laundry heart to skip a beat. Some aspects are quite achievable, while others simply exist in my pretty little head's happy place but could not truly come to fruition in our space and on our budget...still I had to share:
