I have always enjoyed the eclectic beauty and homage to the past that shabby chic looks evoke, see http://www.shabbychic.com/heritage/ I'm excited to be attempting this look in my own guest room, albeit on a very simple level.
My first pieces have been purchased right down the street from my home at a yard sale. For only fifteen dollars I picked up this adorable dresser and nightstand set complete with the little nicks and imperfections of time.
Delightfully, I discovered a set of tiny diary keys which made me smile as I imagined the young lady who once occupied her life's goings on amongst these relics. Did she pen of her first love?
After an afternoon of watching one of my all time favorite movies, Becoming Jane, my imagination immediately leaped here, to my favorite scene from the movie. My heart always skips a beat from 1:08 of watching the youtube timing ticker for this youtube clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfZm5rfQP7o
So, as i embark on this journey of creating my delightful guest room respite I will call upon my inner Jane Austen.
I plan to paint the dresser and night stand a monochromatic all white, and will be changing up the knobs.
Mismatched linens in sweet, soothing colors will dress the twin bed, and the single window.
sigh....
